On Beauty: The Benefits, Joys and Dangers of the Sunlight

A Guest Post

Summer is approaching and you will likely be spending a lot of time out in the sun. There is nothing like spending a day outside soaking up the rays. However, you do have to be careful that you wear proper sun protection. Many people think that the sun is only harmful. The sun CAN be harmful, but it also does a body good. Here are the best benefits and worst dangers of the sun.

1) Full Circle

Let's face it. Without the sun, we would not be here. It is in charge of our days, seasons, weather, time- it is everything to us! The sun to the Earth is like gas to a car. You cannot have one without the other. We pretty much would not exist without it, so remember that when you’re complaining about your hot car seats.

2) Healthy Glow
Sure, people tell you that the sun is bad for you. They say wear at least fifty SPF when outside during the summer. However, it does not help to have a little healthy glow. A tan makes you feel prettier, healthier and happier. Stick with an SPF of 30. That way, you can enjoy a little tanning every so often to make your skin look radiant.

3) Cancer & Aging
That being said, do not go overboard with the tan! You want to maintain a good layer of protection on your skin, especially in the water, due to the reflection. If you do not wear sunscreen every day, then you run the risk of skin cancer and pre-mature ageing. Wrinkles are not attractive on twenty-somethings. If you do not like the idea of wasting your precious time putting on sunscreen every morning, then get a concealer with SPF. Then, you are killing two birds with one stone!

4) Happiness
Do you ever notice how much happier you feel when the sun is out and shining? It turns out that this is more scientific than you realize. After a long gloomy winter, your skin is literally waiting to see the sun. In return, the sun's rays warm your skin and your body produces more serotonin and melanin. These are stimulants that make you happy! Serotonin is the natural high you feel when everything is going just right. People with SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder have a heightened state of depression during the winter. It is not until the summer when they feel better. This all thanks to the sun's rays!
Is it not better to be happy and tan than pale and sad? Just keep adequate sunscreen on and you will be all right. Also, if you are feeling depressed, head out into the sun to soak up that sunshine! The sun is our life source for a reason. Even if you don’t necessarily get darker, you can always tell when someone has spent time in the sun J

On Beauty: How To Great Skin

Okay ladies!!!

I was reading an expert tip on beauty which I would like to share with you today. It was given by Elle Macpherson, an Australian supermodel, mother and business woman.

Source: Ferdaus Shamim/Getty Images

She explains how to achieve a great skin "... I hydrate and nourish my skin from the inside with antioxidants. So for breakfast I have yoghurt with manuka honey, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. And I make smoothies with carrot, ginger and apple, which gives me energy as well as feeding my skin. I also drink three litres of water a day."

There you have it ladies.

As much as we take care of our skin on outside we need to take care of it from the inside as well. Out of the three things she listed, I like the breakfast tip and the water tip. Not everyone can drink three liters therefore if you can drink 2litres that's a great way to start taking care of your skin from the inside.

I believe we don't need to be supermodels to feel great and a have great skin from the inside-out.

Do you have any tip on how to have a great skin?

Please confess on TC30s.

On Beauty: Body Products

A day doesn’t pass that I don’t use Cocoa Butter(I alternate between two types), E45, vaseline and oil to moisturise my body. I tend to have dry skin and during the winter I have to be more careful than ever. I use the four products above for various purpose.

Cocoa Butter is great to keep any undesirable stretch mark at bay. It works for me and I know it works for some of my friends. Vaseline, I use both lotion and gel when is very dry and cold out.

E45 is an emollient great to treat eczema (dry skin condition). I sub a small amount of the affected areas. I started using E45 two winters ago, because my eczema were appearing on as my chest and stomach. I saw the result, all the dark spots disappeared leaving my skin soft and smooth. I can’t find the exact brand here but I am trying something else , I will let you know how it works. In the meantime I am waiting for some two E45 from London. Body oil, is one of my beauty secret pleasures. I use it when I feel like getting extra pampered. I know one of the bottles read baby oil but it doesn't mean I can't use it, does it?OMG, thinking about it, maybe I am addicted to body products. What do you think?

Which kind of body product/s do you use?

Let's confess on TC30s.

On Beauty: The Impromptu Purchase

I just got back from Shopper Drug Mart. I went there because I wanted to try to find something similar to a dermatological cream I used London. I found something similar, but before finding, I found something else.
A package full of beauty items I didn't plan to purchase. I made a quick calculation.
I will need toothpaste soon, and that alone is $2. I wouldn't mind trying that coconut scrub. Even though the package is priced $8.99, it is discounted to $7.99.

The content:Satin Care Shave gel
Lady Speed Stick Anti-Perspirant
Nivea Essentials
Colgate Total toothpaste
Vaseline Sheer Infusion Body Lotion
Veet Wax Strips
Aveeno Volumizing Mousse
Coconut Scrub Softsoap Bodywash
Pantene Shampoo
Pantene Conditioner
Schick Quattro Razor
Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream Sample

I know, I won't use some of the items in the box, but WOW, the total value of the items is more than $54.00. That's the reason I bought something I didn't plan to purchase.

Have you ever bought a beauty item on a whim due to value for money?

On Beauty: The Favourite Nail Polish

I have more than one nail polishes, but there is ONLY one that I am proud to have in my beauty bag. The colour is bold and goes well with many outfits. But most importantly, it lasts even after a week of washing dishes old school.

Which nail polish can be this good? You may ask.

Here is the lucky thing...

This is my favourite nail polish. I got it for free with when I purchsed two bottles of coca cola. In Europe sometimes you get the chance of getting free items with a purchase of a magazine and this time I got the best nail varnish with the purchase of two bottles of coke.

Nail Inc London and retail price is £11.00, but I was lucky to get it for £2.50 with two bottles of coke. I don’t want to rub in.

I still have it and works fine even after a year and still happy about it.

I am sure there are other good nail polishes out there which I don't know about. So, ladies do you have a favourite nail polish?

On Beauty: Facial Cleanser Wars!

It is definitely difficult to keep your face clean and pretty throughout the summer months.  But your face is your first introduction to the world.  Therefore, it is important to keep it clean, smooth and pretty as you can.  The question today is, which cleanser is the best for you.

I have used both Olay and Proactiv at different stages of my life.  During the awkward, teenage years and then now in my thirties, when breakouts are not so frequent.  But ladies, if you have used one or the other, which one worked best for you?
VS

And you've used neither, what face products have you tried and works best for you?

Good Morning TC30s Readers.  Thanks bunches for this opportunity!

From clip ins hair extension to cold fusion hair extension, I wear and love them all.
Clip in hair extensions are an easy and affordable way to gain longer and fuller locks.

About two years ago I decided that I wanted longer hair and made the decision to get hair extensions.

The hair extension world can be overwhelming and intimidating because of the many hair extension application techniques.

I started with clip in hair extensions which gave me time to do research on other hair extensions applications. Please view the video below to learn more about clip in hair extensions.

Happy watching!

XOXO Naomi!

Guest Blogger: Secret Beauty Tip for The Summer

Hi Ladies! I am so glad that I’ve been asked to contribute to TC30s today. Although I’m not quite 30 yet I still have something that I can confess. Is that OK with you all? Yeah? Well, let’s get started!

I confess that I don’t wear foundation in the summer! GASP! I know-a makeup fanatic that skips the most essential part of makeup application. I should be slapped! Well, guess what? It’s not completely a crime. What’s even better is that you can do it too. Guilt free.
With all of the heat and humidity in the summer it’s nice to let your skin breathe. What was once a makeup crime is now totally encouraged during the hot days of summer. Instead of buffing in my Makeup Forever HD Foundation or brushing on my Smashbox Healthy FX, I say “to heck with it!” Instead, I choose one of the following options to present a flawless complexion while also allowing my skin to enjoy more oxygen.
  • Tinted moisturizer: Tinted moisturizer is a great alternative to foundation. It’s light, hydrates my skin but also adds a tad bit of color to liven me up. There are so many amazing tinted moisturizers out there. Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizers are a favorite among many makeup lovers.
MONEY SAVING TIP: Make your own tinted moisturizer. Take a very small amount of your favorite liquid foundation along with your daily moisturizer and mix the two.

OR
  • Light powder: Sometimes when I’m really in a rush my MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural becomes my best friend. Although my skin is typically dry, during the summer I get an oily T-zone. A quick dusting of powder is the perfect fix. It’s light but also warms my complexion. Powder works especially well for those with oily skin.
After deciding on my foundation alternative, one of the most important steps to achieving a flawless foundation-free face is using concealer. I brighten my under eye area, always being sure to set the concealer with powder (I prefer a slightly lighter highlighting powder). Of course, after this step I go on applying the rest of my makeup (blush, lip color, etc.,) as normal.

So there you have it ladies, a confession and an alternative to your daily foundation routine. Give it a try. Your face will thank you!
