Wednesday Fashion Items: SIKA, The Ghanaian Print Designs

In Ghanaian Sika means money. And lot of money is what you might need to buy a piece of Sika Designs at the rate it is getting international publicity.

The master mind behind the label is Phyllis Taylor. She set up Sika in 2006, after completing a dress-making and pattern cutting course at the London College of Fashion. Sika is inspired by the rich and diverse culture of Ghana, West Africa. Every fabric has been carefully selected in local Ghanaian markets and hand-made using natural methods, creating exclusive limited prints. Each unique piece defines an area in West Africa’s vast textile landscape, using traditional fabrics such as tie dye, batik’s and wax prints.

All garments are produced in Ghana by highly skilled tailors and seamstresses. The highest standards in garment production is an integral part of Sika’s mission. They work very closely with local traders and manufacturers to produce quality garments for the international market. By generating regular income for those involved, they are able to give back to the Ghanaian community and raise the standard of garment production.

While producing a stylish and wearable range, Sika creatively collaborates exeptional West African textiles with the trend and styles of London’s urban chic, making her creation a feminine, stylish approach to ethical design.

The designs range from cute vintage teadresses... ...to modern stylish dresses......to playful pieces like this summer dress and jumpsuits.

You can also find versatible pieces like overdresses and tops.
And don't forget about the little miss:

One of my FAVOURITE pieces is this mini dress{all above pieces can be found on SIKADESIGNS.co.uk}

What do you think of the designs? Would you wear them as everyday wear?

On Beauty: The Favourite Nail Polish

I have more than one nail polishes, but there is ONLY one that I am proud to have in my beauty bag. The colour is bold and goes well with many outfits. But most importantly, it lasts even after a week of washing dishes old school.

Which nail polish can be this good? You may ask.

Here is the lucky thing...

This is my favourite nail polish. I got it for free with when I purchsed two bottles of coca cola. In Europe sometimes you get the chance of getting free items with a purchase of a magazine and this time I got the best nail varnish with the purchase of two bottles of coke.

Nail Inc London and retail price is £11.00, but I was lucky to get it for £2.50 with two bottles of coke. I don’t want to rub in.

I still have it and works fine even after a year and still happy about it.

I am sure there are other good nail polishes out there which I don't know about. So, ladies do you have a favourite nail polish?

Be Inspired Monday: Be Blessed!

There was a lot of chaos and uncertainty about
the devastation of Hurricane Irene on the East Coast.

The worst part about our life sometimes is uncertainty.
It is only human nature that we want to everything,
whether good or bad, we would rather know.

Thank goodness that Sunday brought to many of us
a sense of peace when we weren't sure what to expect.

Our condolences goes out to those that experienced chaos and the uncertainty that was certain.
Our prayers are with you!

TC30s wants to use Be Inspired Monday to encourage you to be blessed!

Confess ladies, if you experienced the Hurricane, how did you feel on Sunday?

On Beauty: Facial Cleanser Wars!

It is definitely difficult to keep your face clean and pretty throughout the summer months.  But your face is your first introduction to the world.  Therefore, it is important to keep it clean, smooth and pretty as you can.  The question today is, which cleanser is the best for you.

I have used both Olay and Proactiv at different stages of my life.  During the awkward, teenage years and then now in my thirties, when breakouts are not so frequent.  But ladies, if you have used one or the other, which one worked best for you?
VS

And you've used neither, what face products have you tried and works best for you?

Be Inspired Monday: It's in the Stars...

When i was in middle school, one of our field trips was to the planetarium.  It was one of the best trips we had ever been on.  As a child, sitting in the seats and experiencing the stars above was magical and something completely out of this world.

I did not do much star gazing as a child growing up in the great outdoors.  My mother and grandmother told me that if i counted the stars i would go blind and as a child, i did not want to go blind.  I believe they told me this so i would be afraid to go outside after dark.  And it certainly worked.

On that field trip, i was inspired to imagine that there is something bigger than myself in the universal!  After all these years, i remember that trip like it was yesterday.  I haven't returned to the planetarium but it was a trip that has remained with me through all these years.

I cannot wait to take my children to the planetarium and experience all the magic and wonder it has to offer.

Were you ever inspired by a school trip as a child?

Fitness, Food & Fun Friday:Work Out in Something Fun!

We all know as we get older, working out becomes a little difficult. The kids are pulling you this way and that way. The husband is wanting your attention. Work is driving you crazy. Your mother keeps calling.

And one way to find some fun quality time for yourself is through working out! And why not look good while you are working out?!

Some of us may go straight for the t-shirts, jogging pants and sneakers! The comfortable mom work-outfit!

From Tuesday, Naomi of Miso Glamorous, reminded us when "you look good, you feel good" and that can definitely translate into our work-outfits. Clothes in general can make you feel good and honestly gym clothes can do the same thing!

We are not talking about inappropriate outfits like this:

Or this:

But comfortable, stylish and fun outfits like this:

Speaking from experience, when i wear clothes that fit and are comfortable, i get an awesome workout.

Most work-outfits that are dri-fit are awesome because sweat tends to not stick. They are also uber comfortably. There is nothing worse than working out and feeling itchy in the process.

TC30s recommends you have your basic work-outfits:

1) a well fitted and supported sports bra.

2) comfortable pants

3) well fitted tank top (or shirt)

4) long sleeve shirt (or hoodie)

5) comfortable socks

6) well fitted running shoes

7) water bottle

There is nothing wrong with t-shirts and jogging pants but try this week ladies

and work out in something fun and comfortable

and you will notice a difference!

Confess ladies, what are some of your favorite go-to work-outfits?

Good Morning TC30s Readers.  Thanks bunches for this opportunity!

From clip ins hair extension to cold fusion hair extension, I wear and love them all.
Clip in hair extensions are an easy and affordable way to gain longer and fuller locks.

About two years ago I decided that I wanted longer hair and made the decision to get hair extensions.

The hair extension world can be overwhelming and intimidating because of the many hair extension application techniques.

I started with clip in hair extensions which gave me time to do research on other hair extensions applications. Please view the video below to learn more about clip in hair extensions.

Happy watching!

XOXO Naomi!

On Marriage! Guest Blogger

When we first came across Becks and the City, we had to feature her on TC30s.  I mean her blog and life is filled with complete awesomeness!  Becks is a self-proclaimed aspiring Carrie Bradshaw quest to become a published writer and honestly she is already there.  She has been published in Cosmopolitan and Women's Fitness...seriously, Becks is (not going) but already in places!  And she looks much cuter than Carrie if you ask me!

Becks brings her awesome writing and keen perception on relationships with of course, Sex and the City flare! Definitely an interesting, thoughtful and fun read!

Carrie Bradshaw Wonders... How to Rescue a Relationship?

I must admit I'm not, in fact, Carrie Bradshaw, but I do want to become her. I own an avalanche of "Sex and the City" memorabilia, I've taken 2011 off from my day job to launch a magazine writing career and my blog, Becks and the City (http://www.becks-carrie.blogspot.com/) and I have more than a passing interest in shoes. Endless analysis of relationships is also second nature to me and recently, I've become obsessed with a certain topic...

In all Carrie's sermonizing on love and sex through all the episodes, I don't remember any concrete advice on how a couple can work a relationship back from the brink.

I've seen fairytale relationships that have stood the test of time (other people's parents, not mine), I've seen break-ups, I've seen flings, but where are the couples that have reached the point of wanting to separate, considered couples counselling to stop the endless bickering, and have resurrected a dying relationship?

Of course, everyone has their deal-breakers, where no matter what, they won't patch things up when a partner crosses the line. Fair enough that those who cheat or physically hurt you don't deserve a second chance. In the absence of any serious wrong-doing, though, relationships at breaking point can surely still be saved. How do you do it?

The reason I ask is that several couples in our group of friends are in this situation and I don't know how to help them. I've experienced it before, with a partner of nine years and we ended it. It couldn't be salvaged. I recognise the same signs in my friends' relationships -- cruel barbs about each other at dinner parties, increasingly divergent interests and circles of friends, overreacting to harmless comments your partner makes because you no longer trust each other...

One theory I've come up with is that if you fix the sex, everything else follows.

It forms the basis of intimacy and trust in couples, so I think there's something to it. Difficult to discuss with people, though, and even more difficult to test this theory. Hey, p*ssed off couples, how do you fancy being part of a sex experiment? Yeah, that'll work. Hey, if you have any better ideas, be sure to pass them on.

I'm still, like Carrie, searching for all the answers in the realm of love.

I can't help but wonder... how do you live happily ever after without disaster?

An aspiring Carrie Bradshaw's quest to become a published writer...

Be Inspired Monday: Elements of Inspiration...

although I like her music, I don't like her diva stage presence - it gives mix messages. however, we have something in commom:

elements of inspiration (I selected some scenes for you to watch)___
Times: 00:06, 03:02, 04:50 and 21:04

WATER: "I am always happy when I am surrounded by
water... The ocean makes me feel really small and it puts my life into
perspective. It reminds me... I am a very little piece of this huge
earth. It humbles you and it grounds you...
and I am born again when I get out of the ocean."

SCUBA DIVING: "... I was in such a great peaceful state. It inspired purity."

Swimming is like a therapy to my soul.

STARS: "... Sometimes we don't reach for the stars. Sometimes we are satisfied with what people tell us we are supposed to be satisfied with. And I am not going for it.[the weak mindset]"

I always want to reach for the stars.

"I am learning how to drown out the constant noise which is such an inseparable part of my life. I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I only have to follow my heart and concentrate on what I want to say to the world. I run my world."

We need inspiration in our lives but, at the end of it all, we run our own world!

BE INSPIRED MONDAY!

Have you ever heard of Beyonce's inspirational words?

Be Inspired Monday: Age Is Just A Number

I am aware that knowledge is empowering but sometimes that knowledge pushes us into a state of fear and panic. That's the case when it comes to ageing. As another year add onto our already levitating years we fret because we are ageing. We worry about the horrible nightmares caused by wrinkles and how we lost count of the grey hair.

But what if we didn't know our real age? Would we be so obsessed about the lack of not achieving a goal we set ourselves before a certain number. I wanted to have a red sporty car by the age of 25, but that didn't happen. I would like to get my first book published by the 30, but what if that doesn't happen. What if I get it published by the age of 32 or 35, would I refuse. Of course not, because I know age is just a number. It more what we feel and how we achieve a goal that matters, not when. Is our nature to set goals and if we don't reach those goals by a certain age we become depressed and fearful.

There is one person that inspires me as I grow older: my grandmother.

I know that my grandmother doesn't know her real age. She was born in a period in which people didn't care about noting one's year of birth. They only went by events happening in the time. One day I asked her when she was born and she told me "I was born when this thing happened." It sounded funny to me but then realised that all her life she was able to be who she wanted to be without letting a number condition her life. Although she doesn't know her real age that doesn't effect her way of life. She is till living, she can dance and take care of her well-being without fretting about how old her non-existent birth certificate might have told her.I believe that the age on our birth certificate push us into a state of panic each year. What if we were like the generation of my grandmother, would we fret so much about age. Because, really, when it comes to living life to its fullest we should remember, age is just a number! Also as Bryan Adams sung I want to be 18 till I Die...

"...it's not how ya look, it's what ya feel inside..."

That's my anthem, just because I am ageing thanks to the numerical system on my birth certificate and grey hair in places..., inside I feel young no matter the numbers on that fascist paper.

Ladies, let confess, do you let age condition your life? Which song inspires you to live your age at its best?
